Having issues with the connection to your Chromecast?

1. Basic browser tips:

go to chrome://flags

under Experiments change from default setting to enable

load media router component extension

connect to all cast devices on all IP addresses

cast media route provider

2. Here's some extra things to try!
  • Typing chrome://restart into your address bar and hit enter
  • Make sure your PC's clock is set to the right date/time
  • Make sure your PC and Chromecast are on the same WiFi
  • Make sure your WiFi is set to 'private' or 'home'
  • Make sure you do not have an active VPN, as that can stop the signal from connecting
  • Unplug and plug back in your Chromecast
  • Make sure your router has Multicast and SSDP enabled
  • Restart your router by unplugging it and plugging it back in
  • If you're currently powering your Chromecast from the TV's USB port, try using the wall adaptor. Some TVs don't give the Chromecast enough power which can lead to issues.

As well, some anti-virus programs stop apps likes ours (but not Youtube or Netflix) from communicating properly (especially AVG antivirus!), try disabling any anti-virus programs that you run and rebooting your computer!

3The bugs may be due to the new Chrome/Windows update that we haven't been able to patch yet. Hopefully we can get a fix soon.

In the meantime, there's 2 possible fixes I'm aware of:
+ Can you try removing the Chromecast device from your device settings in Windows and letting Windows recreate the device?
 - Go to Settings.
 - Click devices and look for the name of your Chromecast.
 - If you can see the name of your Chromecast, click it and remove device.
 - Re-add Chromecast if detected and add it as a media device.
 - Open Chrome browser and attempt to cast.

+ Can you reinstall the  Videostream Chrome app as a workaround? First remove Videostream from your device.
Here is a set of instructions on how to correctly uninstall Videostream/programs from your computer:
Sometimes the uninstall process leaves some stragglers and causes some issues like yours to arise. Can you try navigating to these folders and deleting them?
  • c:\users\xxx\appdata\local\videostream
  • c:\users\xxx\appdata\roaming\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs\videostream
Then, reboot your computer, after you do that, download it again from here: https://getvideostream.com/download/#

4. 'Source not supported' is not a common issue, but I did some digging and found some info on it.
